THEINAUGURAL MUSIC INDUSTRY FOOTY FUNDRAISER

Sport like music is an incredible way to check out, to have some time to yourself internally. Escaping from the daily grind of life, the pressures that can consume. Put them all on the back burner for 80…90 minutes depending on your code of choice. For so many people, their mental health hinges on whatever sport they choose to participate in; or the music they consume.

Football is called the beautiful game for a reason, the flow, the intensity, the drama. From the Argentinian drums on a River plate match day, to the Vuvuzela at a World Cup final, to the passionate chorus of Liverpool fans chanting  “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at Anfield. The two worlds of sport and music have a beautiful synergy. No matter what the sport, an athlete 9 times out of 10 is psyching themselves pre match or race with  their trusty headphones and their favourite beats or tunes.

This all made perfect sense more-so when Dave Munro (Eccles Entertainment) & Finn McLennan-Elliott (Live Nation & The Tuning Fork) had a discussion around the two music promoters coming together to have a “friendly" game of football (Soccer), followed by some friendly banter and a bbq.

The idea quickly morphedinto the thought that anyone involved in the music industry should be able toparticipate. A 7 A-side football tournament being the best format, to be held at Auckland’s legendary concert venue, Mt Smart Stadium (Arena 2)

Get a little philanthropic with the idea, and it becomes an amazing opportunity to raise funds forour great friends at MusicHelps, supporting the amazing work they do in the music space in Aotearoa for so many people.

“The pressure on theservices MusicHelps provides those of us who earn a living from music continuesto rise. Our thanks, in particular, to Dave Munro and Finn McLennan-Elliott fortheir work bringing this football tournament together. And yes, while proceeds raised from the football tournament will go to the work MusicHelpsundertakes for the music industry just as importantly, this is a greatopportunity for everyone to come together and have some fun.” - MusicHelps
